Independently owned by Becky, Rita Ray’s is a sports bar with a difference. While proudly female-focused, we celebrate the best of all sports by showcasing women’s and men’s games in equal measure. Rooted in sports bar culture but with a modern twist - Rita Ray’s combines the comfort of a great pub with the care, quality and attention to detail of a modern cocktail bar.

Our Story
Rita Ray's was inspired by two people who truly embraced life and loved and spread joy every single day. They were mine (founder Becky) and my sister Emily's, grandparents. They were the kind of people who never did anything quietly. They loved so many things. Golf - both travelling the world to play, and equally their home course, Bacup. Burnley Football Club. Rummikub. Some of my earliest and fondest memories are watching them play very serious games with all their friends - every score recorded in notebooks. Somehow Ray won every game! Their friends and family. Another thing I look back so fondly at is the love and laughter that was always present and felt by everyone lucky enough to know them. They touched and changed so many people's lives with their generosity and kindness. Champagne, Campari, and Guinness & black. Not all in the same glass thankfully - but they loved any excuse to celebrate and toast life. Each other. Above everything, they were the true definition of in love and happy, even decades later. Rita passed away in 2002, and Raymond in 2009, and we hope to keep their memory and names alive for many more years to come.
Everything about Rita Ray's has intentionally been designed to embody them, their spirit and legacy, and to help create a warm, friendly, safe and inclusive, fun loving venue where I hope people enjoy their time, as much as Rita & Ray did every single day.
